Devised in partnership with Spitalfields Music, our CLoSer concert series is based around bitesized, informal concert experiences, designed to appeal to those who like their live music to be intimate and relaxed (and who enjoy a glass of wine while listening!)
Each concert has a specific musical focus with guest artists including Mercury Prize nominee Gwilym Simcock, as well as CLS Principal Conductors Stephen Layton and Michael Collins.
While short in length, the concerts still present audiences with challenging and interesting repertoire with 'talking' programme notes throughout the performance. For those who wish to linger post concert, the bar remains open, and there is the chance to mingle with CLS musicians too.
An alternative Valentine's Day offering, with bittersweet love songs from baroque to modern day contemporary music, featuring soprano, Elin Manahan Thomas and singer/songwriter, Mara Carlyle.

PURCELL - What can we poor females do; When I have often heard; Dido's Lament
HANDEL - V'adoro pupille; Tornami a vagheggiar
SCHUBERT - Heidenroslein; Hänflings Liebeswerbung; An Sylvia
RODRIGO (arr. Farr) - Cuartro Madrigales Amatorios
