
What is your favourite piece of music?
It's not really a single piece of music, but I love the musical Into the Woods by Stephen Sondheim.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A percussion player! I never thought of anything else.
What was your favourite subject at school?
Applied Maths.
What was your favourite book when you were a child?
When I was a teenager, I loved Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger because it really caught my imagination
Do you have any pets?
Yes, 2 dogs and a cat.
How old were you when you decided to become a musician?
I was probably 18 when I decided to become a musician full time.
If that hadn't worked out, what would you have become instead?
I don't know!
Who is your musical hero?
Stephen Sondheim.
When did you join CLS?
About 25 years ago in around 1985. I remember my first concert was a Prom with Richard Hickox.
What do you like best about playing with CLS?
The high standard of musicianship and the friendships.
What was it like when you played in public for the first time?
Very nerve wracking!
How do you get ready for a performance?
I try not to think too much about it.
How often do you practise?
Every day.
If you didn't play your instrument, what would you play?
I used to play the keyboards, flute and harmonica, but what I'd really like to play is the bass guitar.
