It varies from week to week, day to day.

I used to joke about being a brain surgeon, but I always wanted to be a musician.

What was your favourite subject at school?

Music and Maths.

What was your favourite book when you were a child?

I never used to like to read as a child!

Do you have any pets?

I have a cat named Minky and three chickens named Kiev, Chippy and Paxo.

How old were you when you decided to become a musician?

Probably around the time I went to college - 16 or 17 years old.

If that hadn't worked out, what would you have become instead?

That's a tough question - I don't think I ever had a back up plan!

When did you join CLS?
Officially about 15 years ago in 1996, but I've been an extra player for over 25 years.

What do you like best about playing with CLS?
CLS is a lovely, friendly bunch. We're all striving for the best performance but do it in a positive, friendly way.

What was it like when you played in public for the first time?

Scary!

How do you get ready for a performance?

Plenty of practice. I have a picture on my wall at home of Biff and Chip from the storybooks and I imagine that they're the conductor and concert surroundings and try to visualise the performance.

How often do you practise?

I try to warm up every day. How much I practice depends on how busy I am.

If you didn't play your instrument , what would you play?

I would play the bassoon because my 15 year old daughter seems to find it very easy!
