Glynne is a former university lecturer, career diplomat and British Ambassador to Chile, and is now a security consultant. During her diplomatic service she discovered City of London Sinfonia and prevailed on them to play before Her Majesty the Queen at Westminster Hall to celebrate the UN's 50th Anniversary. She also encouraged the orchestra to make a celebrated visit to Chile in parallel with the Lord Mayor and a powerful City of London financial services delegation.
Quite apart from their concert at the National Theatre in Santiago, the Orchestra performed Last Night of the Proms music in a converted underground station in the Chilean capital, as well as a special concert for underprivileged children who had never before heard classical music.
Glynne strongly supports CLS' educational and developmental work and has been delighted to introduce the Orchestra as partners with the Dementia Research Centre, enabling experts to assess the role music can play for patients. She treasures the orchestra's Richard Hickox recordings of the Britten operas.
