Our Meet the Music community and education programme is generously supported by the MariaMarina Foundation.
Music plays an important role in the development and learning of babies and toddlers. We have worked on a number of projects in early years settings including The Lullaby Concerts, a series of orchestral performances and related workshops in community venues and theatres across Suffolk, Lincolnshire and Essex organised in collaboration with Orchestras Live. These feature our animateur in residence, Claire Bloor , and provide an accessible and interactive way of introducing young children to classical music.
Our work in schools is often centred around creative compositional projects. Musicians work in primary and secondary schools with composers and music animateurs towards joint performances with children and young people. We also work alongside THAMES (Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Education Service) and Harrow Music Service to provide music education to children and young people in the London Boroughs of Tower Hamlets and Harrow.
"Some of the kids had never publicly performed before. It was a real milestone for their confidence. To be given the opportunity was just fantastic."
