Tonight's concert bursts with energy and emotion. Mendelssohn's Hebrides overture inspired by the composer's youthful infatuation with Scotland, opens the concert, conjuring up the legends and the rugged terrain of Scotland, while Haydn's Symphony No 100 was the greatest of all his successes in England, due to its attractive themes, and his captivating use of percussion.Tonight's world premiere Music in the Marble, weaves a glorious tapestry of emotions, in seven short movements, exploring power and darkness; hope and humour, drawing inspiration from the sculptures chosen by the commissioner Daniel Katz.
