Crash, Bang, Wallop!
In addition to our regular concert series, City of London Sinfonia offer a series of Family Concerts, currently taking place in London, Chatham and High Wycombe. Crash, Bang, Wallop! family concerts are developed to appeal to people of all ages, introducing the repertoire in a lively, interactive way. Prior to the concert, families are invited to arrive early to the concert hall to take part in pre-concert activities. These include craft activities related to the theme of the concert and musical activities such as conducting a live string quartet, or taking part in percussion workshops.
The activities and concert are especially suited to children and young people aged 5-14 years.
Crash, Bang, Wallop! concerts are led by presenter James Redwood, a composer and animateur who helps demystify classical music for young and old alike. Workshops before or after the concerts in schools or other venues can be arranged.
Community workshops and pre-concert activities are specifically designed to encourage those new to the world of music to the concert. With the help of community engagement specialists, CLS works to develop our audience in under-represented areas, encouraging those from diverse backgrounds – economically, culturally and geographically – to experience the joy and fun of a live concert performance. Often, tickets for these groups are subsidised by other charities and organisations.
