Conquering the Antarctic - now booking

Booking is now open at all venues for our Scott Centenary tour - Conquering the Antarctic - a celebration in music, words and pictures.

These concerts taking place in Birmingham, Cambridge, Cardiff, Cheltenham, and London, are a joint collaboration with the Scott Polar Research Institute, University of Cambridge, and supported by a generous grant from the Arts Council England as well as the Colwinston Trust, the RVW Trust and the Vaughan Williams Charitable Foundation.

Each concert tells the story of the ill-fated expedition through music from the film score to Scott of the Antarctic and Vaughan Williams' Sinfonia Antartica, accompanied by projected original photographs by Herbert Ponting from the expedition itself and readings from Scott's own diary and letters. In addition, composer Cecilia McDowall has been commissioned to write a new piece of music entitled Seventy Degrees Below Zero specifically for the tour.
