Downton Abbey star joins Scott tour

Hugh B We are thrilled to announce that actor Hugh Bonneville will be joining us as narrator for the Conquering the Antarctic tour in February.

 

Known to millions as the Earl fo Grantham in ITV's Emmy award winning drama, Downton Abbey, Hugh has performed with the National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as starring across film and television. His leading television roles include The Cazalets, Take a Girl Like You, Armadillo, Daniel Deronda and The Commander, and he has appeared in more than a dozen films, including Notting Hill, Mansfield Park, Stage Beauty, Asylum, Scenes of a Sexual Nature, Man To Man, From Time To Time, Glorious 39, Burke & Hare, Third Star and Shanghai.


The tour starts on Friday 3 February and visits Birmingham, Cambridge, Cardiff, Cheltenham and London. Celebrating the epic journey to the South Pole by Captain Robert Falcon Scott and his team, the concerts include readings by Hugh from Scott's moving diaries, as well as stunning imagery from the original tour photographer Herbert Ponting.There will also be the chance to hear the world premiere of British composer Cecilia McDowall's piece Seventy Degrees Below Zero.
